Program Notes
I was approached by a couple of my friends in band class, and they had asked if I could write a piece for solo and ensemble festival. I immediately agreed to the opportunity! They requested something where they could battle each other for the melody, witch I thought was a little odd. I was brainstorming when I thought “How do I write a piece where saxes battle? Well, how about BATTLE OF THE SAXES!?” I sat down and wrote the first draft of this and presented it to my band friends and they liked it! So, in the end, Battle of the Saxes is dedicated to my friends Thomas Graves and Travis Stevenson!
