A celestial explosion of shooting stars, Leading Star (Fanfare) was composed in celebration of the 20th anniversary of Siegel High School in Murfreesboro, TN. The piece was inspired by the school’s motto, “Stars Leading the Way”. In writing this piece at the request of David Aydelott and Blake Ward, I decided to craft a work that would be a short, yet dramatic, exploration through the cosmos. Moments of traditional fanfare are juxtaposed with whimsical and playful textures that convey a sense of curiosity, charisma, and charm.
