Empire aims to depict a futuristic digital empire where precision and control drives every aspect of life. The piece opens with a bold statement of the main theme, then moves through various episodes that showcase the empire’s fortitude and strength. A brief moment of conflict follows, allowing the woodwinds, brass, and percussion to pass motivic material around the ensemble before building to a dramatic finish.

Empire was commissioned by the Loyalsock Township School District (Williamsport, PA) under the direction of Emily Brumbaugh, David Tini, and Jessica Hopkins.
